Pastel Tie-Dye Coordinates | LIVI by Lane Bryant

Today’s style story features a fun cotton candy-inspired tie-dye set from Lane Bryant. I love the soft pastel hues featured in this set! I am wearing the LIVI French Terry Sweatshirt along with coordinating LIVI French Terry Shorts. Both pieces are soft, with a relaxed fit. The top can also be worn tunic style, overlaying the shorts. I styled it tucked in to emphasize the paper waistband design on the shorts ๐Ÿ˜‰

Tie-dye fashion originates from the 60-70s style era; however, it began to trickle onto modern-day runways back in 2019. By 2020, it made a full-on resurgence, ironically - during a year that will forever remain etched in our minds and hearts. Some have noted that tie-dye was a mood-boosting hobby during the pandemic, while others say it has an automatic feel-good factor when you wear it.

Tie-dye comes in a vast variety of colors and intensities; in fact, no two creations are exactly alike. LIVI (exclusively available at Lane Bryant) offers a wide assortment of tie-dye options. Currently, I am crushing on a jogging suit set (LIVI Sweatshirt + LIVI Metro Jogger) in Glacier Grey. I also like the LIVI French Terry Pullover Hoodie HERE. To take a stroll through all the tie-dye styles currently available at Lane Bryant, from tops to bottoms + dresses - visit HERE!

Over to you, how do you feel about the resurgence of tie-dye fashion?
Do you view tie-dye as a trend or style classic?

Until next time,
Xx

Gone Gingham

Today’s look features a closet remix + a print tossup by way of black & white. With uncertain times becoming a new norm paired with an economy that seems to be plummeting towards rock bottom--> shopping your closet is not only safe but smart. I’ve made a commitment to be more intentional about what I purchase. I am challenging myself to look at pieces in my wardrobe in a new, fresh way. This look came together fueled by a desire to style this pair of satin mules and my eternal love for black & white style duos. Print mixing can feel intimidating, a simple way to start is by sticking with two or three colors. Check out previous black & white looks I’ve blogged HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE.

Until next time Babes,

Gingham Girl | Take 1 of 2

Earrings: Old, other options HERE + HERE
Top: HERE + similar HERE
Shorts: HERE (I'm wearing a size 12)
Shoes: Similar HERE

A print that is synonymous with summer fashion in addition to florals is G I N G H A M.
Traditional gingham prints are often presented in the classic color duo, black & white.
I'm of fan of the expected, however diversions from the beaten path appeal to me equally.
This pair of gingham shorts from Lane Bryant stood out to me online instantly because they're RED, my favorite color ๐Ÿ’ž
When they arrived in the mail, I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent fit (size 12) and functional side pockets. In my head, there should always be pockets...however I've digressed! Note: There are also faux pockets on the rear of the shorts, however I'm not fond of faux pockets...
I loved these shorts so much that I opted to style them not ONE, but TWO ways ๐Ÿ˜‰
Today's post features a monochrome look, red from head to toe is never too much in my book!
Stay tuned for the second way that I styled this pair of gingham shorts...

With the official start of SUMMER 2020 just under 6 weeks away, my mind has already drifted to the glory of EVERYTHING that is summer style๐Ÿ˜ Admittedly, this summer will no doubt be one for the record books - much of the world will continue to work to avoid a surge in COVID19 occurrences.  We each play an integral part. Additionally, many of us are actively grieving the loss of loved ones. Others are battling a fear of the unknown. Many have concerns about the economy, and what form normalcy may take on after everything is said & done.
That being said, thankfully the human spirit is one of resilience. Inevitably - at some point, we either consciously or unconsciously will make the choice to shift our attention towards lighter & brighter moments.
My intention is to lean into happy moments conciously on a regular basis. Expressing my individuality through personal style has always been a 'happy medium' for me. It is no surprise that I choose to draw my attention towards colors, textures, unusual combinations, and things that in general make me feel happy to be alive.
Today's look features a classic all-white ensemble, with textural detail by way of cotton eyelet fabric, a bamboo bag, and leather mules. I can easily see this look as the epitome of summer style for the office. Not only is it cool and comfortable COTTON, but the entire ensemble effortlessly transitions to a much needed happy hour at the end of a long day.
Enough about me! Do share what happy moments you've been leaning into during this uncertain time.

Today marks the first full week of FALL! I'm closing it out in a gorgeous animal print that is currently in abundance just about everywhere ❤ How do you feel about leopard print? I'm so HERE for it! Try it out in colors outside of its traditional neutral palette - say red or pink! See an example HERE.
This two-piece set was styled for a night out, but I also envision it wearable to the office with black tights and a black silk blouse ๐Ÿ˜‰ Actually, I can also see it styled with a white top and red boots... Needless to say, I look forward to exploring its style potential fully!
Until next time Babes,

Are you loving the blazer dress craze as much as I am?!!!
If you aren't familair with the trend, check out these cute options HERE, HERE, and HERE ๐Ÿ˜
I'm all about wardrobe versatility, so I decided to wear a blazer from my current stash as a dress!!!
I styled it with a pair of shorts for additional length - otherwise, my valuables would have been on display ๐Ÿ˜ There are soooo many options Babes to incorporate current trends into your style, using what you already have! Like, you can easily swap up out shorts, say for a mini dress.
All in all, I LOVE how this LOOK came together!
Why buy something new if you can utilize what you already have?!
Until next time,

Short Stories

Sunnies: Similar HERE| Romper: HERE| Bag: HERE| Sandals: Similar HERE
Photography by A. Robinson

This weekend marks the unofficial end of SUMMER 2019! I'm stepping into a September and FALL 2019 in Leopard Print ❤
Why?

  • For starters, it is a timeless classic!
  • It is wonderfully neutral and bold all at the same time.
  • It pairs lovely with red, my favorite color ๐Ÿ’“

I snagged this short romper at an end of summer sale. I'm wearing it in a size 12, the fit is true to size. I do wish that the sleeves were a closer cut & that it had functional pockets - but we can't have everything can we?! LOL!
Until next time,

I first shared my affinity for the Elomi brand of lingerie HERE. I initially met with members of the team in Chicago earlier this year. Ever since then, I have been completely smitten with the brand ๐Ÿ’• In fact, as shared previously, it is the only brand of brassieres that I currently wear!
The bra featured in today's post is called the Bijou Flirt and the color is Raspberry. The Bijou Flirt is one of the latest editions to Elomi's collections, designed specifically for a full bust, featuring a seamless eye-catching color and design. I also scored the matching briefs ๐Ÿ˜Œ You can see the full set pictured together HERE.
What I really appreciate about Elomi's designs, is that not only are they wonderfully functional - as in providing all of the support that you'll ever need - but they are also GORGEOUS!!! Sometimes full figure bras tend to be ugly, and... well boring. That is no longer the case!
With Elomi, not only do I have a fantastically comfortable lift, but I also feel and look FABULOUS ๐Ÿ‘€❤๐Ÿ˜
Until next time,
Xx

The Acquisition of Shorts

sunnies: HERE| lipstain: HERE| necklace: HERE| romper: c/o HERE| sandals: old| straw bag: vintage, thrifted

Hey there! Not too long ago I declared that 2018 would be 'The Summer of Shorts'. Now that we've landed smack in the middle of July, I decided now is the perfect time to conduct a self assessment, actually let's call it a progress report.

Before I begin, in the event that you're new to my blog, despite being a plus size/full figured woman --> I ❤ wearing shorts! It has taken time for me to develop full appreciation for my body (flaws and all), but now that I have it, well the rest is history Babes!
When I look back on my shopping habits over the decades (clearly I must've started shopping as an infant ๐Ÿ˜), I've always heavily gravitated towards dresses. As a result dresses make up the majority of my wardrobe.  Within the last 10 years or so, I developed an increasing appreciation for wearing/styling separates, which include skirts and shorts. There are far more choices in my size to choose from now than there was in years past. Whoo hoo!
However, let's get to it - how am I fairing in the acquisition of shorts for 2018? I'll let the facts speak for themselves:
Q: Do shorts now make up a considerable part of my personal inventory?
A: No. Although my love for wearing shorts continues to grow, my current inventory levels are quite low in comparison with the amount of dresses that I own.
Q: How many additional pairs of shorts should I add to my wardrobe?
A: I think starting with 10 is a good number. Rompers are also included, they are wonderfully versatile (like the one I am wearing in today's post).
Q: Have I created an action plan to meet my goal?
A: I have several specific ideas in my mind, but I plan to commit them to paper no later than tomorrow. Writing things down in detail always helps me to execute a plan properly๐Ÿ˜œ
Until next time,
Xx
