Hey Babes,
How are things going for you? We've been in a near record-breaking heatwave for the past week. Not only are the temperatures on the high end, we're also getting a rare dose of seemingly intense humidity which feels like πππ
According to current forecasts, we will finish off the month on a high note. Summer is historically my favorite season, but this intensity has me dreaming of fall days, LOL!
Today's look features two shade cousins, red + orange. This is a slightly different palette approach to my main steady, monochrome. I love how well these two hues bounce off of each other! This encourages me to pair them together more often in the future, preferably under cooler temps π
Until next time,
Xx

RED is my favorite color of all time. The sight of it always serves as an instant mood booster. It is a reminder to appreciate the little things deeply, even something as simple as saturated color. Reminders like this feel more helpful now than ever.
As I look out at the uncertainty of the world scene, I feel compelled to do what I personally can to effect positive, lasting change. I feel encouraged to lean into hope, to repeatedly set an intention to lead with love.
Until next time,
Xx
P.S. For more examples of me in RED, see HERE, HERE, and HERE π

A print that is synonymous with summer fashion in addition to florals is G I N G H A M.
Traditional gingham prints are often presented in the classic color duo, black & white.
I'm of fan of the expected, however diversions from the beaten path appeal to me equally.
This pair of gingham shorts from Lane Bryant stood out to me online instantly because they're RED, my favorite color π
When they arrived in the mail, I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent fit (size 12) and functional side pockets. In my head, there should always be pockets...however I've digressed! Note: There are also faux pockets on the rear of the shorts, however I'm not fond of faux pockets...
I loved these shorts so much that I opted to style them not ONE, but TWO ways π
Today's post features a monochrome look, red from head to toe is never too much in my book!
Stay tuned for the second way that I styled this pair of gingham shorts...

One activity that I have not enjoyed this summer: A picnic! Because I tend to overdress wherever I go (is that really possible?π) this look struck me as perfection for an afternoon picnic. RED is my favorite color of all time. I have no discomfort whatsoever in rocking it from head to toe in a monochromatic fashionπ
I styled this two-piece set as a dress because the length of the skirt was longer than what I imagined and the top was too short for my taste. If there's one thing that rings true when it comes to personal style- DO YOU!
Until next time Babes,

Now that SPRING-like temperatures have finally made an appearance, I am thrilled to bask in the sun in LIVING COLOR!!! How many times have I shared here that RED is my favorite color? Well, I'll share it again for special emphasis: RED IS MY FAVORITE COLOR!!!
When I spotted this jumpsuit, I knew it was a must-have for my spring wardrobe! The color and the fit of it is LIFE! Did you notice the tie detailing on the sleeves? Or the peek-a-boo features in the back?! I am so infatuated with this jumpsuit, with my body in it, and my new haircut! π
What is one of your spring must-have items?
Until next time,

Hey Babes! With fall on the horizon, I am trying my absolute best to start thinking about fall fashion π This top c/o SHEIN makes me think of a mild fall day, plus it is a perfect transitional piece. Here in Southern California, it is easy to enjoy off the shoulder tops all year around. However, if I lived in a cooler climate, I could see it layered with a turtleneck underneath. I paired it with skinny jeans and a pop of color πI actually intended to wear matching statement earrings, but would you believe I totally forgot?! LOL! FYI you can save 20% off original priced items from SHEIN, on an order totaling $59 or more with code "inmyjoi20" ❤

There aren't many hidden gems in downtown Los Angeles, yet I officially declare the location of today's post as one of them. I stumbled upon it a few months back while attending a sample sale hosted by Cult Gaia. From the street view, the plaza looks dull and unordinary. However after a brief descent down a flight or two of stairs, it feels like you've stepped back in time. You stand smack dab in the middle of an old factory- with a vintage car thrown in for good measure. This site was particularly fab to me because I love old buildings, and somehow it gave me the feeling that I was someplace entirely different, even far far away from the hustle & bustle that is downtown Los Angeles.
Until next time,

BABES!!! Can you believe that today marks the last Monday in AUGUST?! This entire year has been a complete blur! I stand in disbelief that we are on the doorstep of September already! don't want to say farewell to SUMMER yet! Nonetheless, life experience has taught me the importance of facing facts π It is time for me to mentally prepare myself - summer really is almost over. The change in the weather was noticeable over the weekend, instead of soaring up near 100 degrees, it was humid and in the 80s. Per the forecast, this week we won't get past the 70s. Although I'm sure warmer temperatures will return before all is said and done, I am still ever mindful that summer is truly on its way out. That brings me to the topic of transitional pieces. This kimono makes for a great transitional piece! It's light enough for warm days, yet also functional for easy layering in the fall months. That's right, this wrap dress is actually a kimono styled as a dress π
Based on the reviews of other shoppers, I sized up for this piece, which allows me to be able to wear it as a true wrap dress. Although it came with a belt, I swapped that one out for an older belt in my collection from Banana Republic. I added in olive-colored accessories as a neutralizer and hit the door!
Over to you Babes: Are you ready for summer to end?!
Until next time,
Xx

Summer 2018 came in with a BANG - and by a BANG I mean it came crashing through with an I N T E N S E heatwaveπ₯ I freely admit, I am an advocate for summer living all year long, however the 1st heatwave of summer 2018 totally caught me unaware! It's true, we're in mid-July, the time of the year when temperatures are supposed to soar up up and away. This is my favorite season!!! Nonetheless, while I've been out and about trying to live my best life, this heat has been draining all of my energy in brute force! For example: Every time I spend any amount of time walking around during the hours of 12-6p, I instantly feel completely tapped out, and in desperate need of a nap. A few things that help me to feel refreshed along with regular naps (a fav pastime): Drinking lots of water, eating sweet fruit (watermelon & cherries come to mind), rooftop siestas, fresh ice cream, and maxing out the AC.
Over to you: How are you managing heatwave season?
Until next time,
Xx
