Shifting Seasons

Sunnies: HERE | Bra: HERE| Jacket & shorts c/o SHEIN (save $ w/ code FALL50)

Today marks the first full week of FALL! I'm closing it out in a gorgeous animal print that is currently in abundance just about everywhere ❤ How do you feel about leopard print? I'm so HERE for it! Try it out in colors outside of its traditional neutral palette - say red or pink! See an example HERE
This two-piece set was styled for a night out, but I also envision it wearable to the office with black tights and a black silk blouse πŸ˜‰ Actually, I can also see it styled with a white top and red boots... Needless to say, I look forward to exploring its style potential fully!
Until next time Babes,

Picnic Ready

One activity that I have not enjoyed this summer: A picnic! Because I tend to overdress wherever I go (is that really possible?😜) this look struck me as perfection for an afternoon picnic. RED is my favorite color of all time. I have no discomfort whatsoever in rocking it from head to toe in a monochromatic fashionπŸ’“
I styled this two-piece set as a dress because the length of the skirt was longer than what I imagined and the top was too short for my taste. If there's one thing that rings true when it comes to personal style- DO YOU!
Until next time Babes,

Discover FALL

dress: HERE| belt bag: HERE| shoes: c/o HERE

Do you like camouflage prints? I do! I spotted this number online and especially liked the red floral print that is intertwined throughout. Immediately I added it to my virtual basket.
When it arrived, I was pleased that the fit was exactly as I envisioned (I'm wearing a size 1X). I wanted to style it with a thin red belt, but decided to step outside of my comfort zone and style it with a red fanny pack instead...
Full disclosure: When fanny packs first made a comeback, I was not impressed! I didn't like them when I was younger, and I'm still not completely smitten with them...However, I do like the modified version: Belt bags. So cute! The difference between the two is usually a slim, sleek design. I set about finding a red one for this dress, but to no avail. You know how it is when you are looking for something specific? You can't find it anywhere! So I settled on a  red fanny pack... Since this one was under $20, I won't feel bad at all if its time with me is brief... When it comes to incorporating trendy pieces, I opt for fast fashion stores. However for quality, classic pieces, I prefer to go high end πŸ˜‰

Wear Me Out

top: c/o HERE| skinny jeans: similar HERE & HERE & HERE| red booties: ZARA
photography by LETA

Hey Babes! With fall on the horizon, I am trying my absolute best to start thinking about fall fashion 😊 This top c/o SHEIN makes me think of a mild fall day, plus it is a perfect transitional piece. Here in Southern California, it is easy to enjoy off the shoulder tops all year around. However, if I lived in a cooler climate, I could see it layered with a turtleneck underneath. I paired it with skinny jeans and a pop of color 😏I actually intended to wear matching statement earrings, but would you believe I totally forgot?! LOL! FYI you can save 20% off original priced items from SHEIN, on an order totaling $59 or more with code "inmyjoi20" ❤

Crop Status

Sunnies: HERE | Shirt & pants: c/o HERE| Necklace: HERE

Readers poll: Have you ever styled a shirt backward? I have a number of times, today's post features another such example πŸ˜† I scored this two-piece set c/o SHEIN and although I loved how the top looked on the model, unfortunately it didn't look the same way on me πŸ˜‰ Improvising is often KEY in the style game, I tried the top on backward and immediately it worked for me! BTW: You can save 20% off original priced items and your total order of $59 or more with code "inmyjoi20" ❤
Over to you Babes, what are some ways that you improvise when it comes to style?!
Until next time,

Golden Girl

Earrings: Nordstrom| Dress: c/o HERE (use discount code inmyjoi20)| Leather belt: Ralph Lauren
Suede boots: Ralph Lauren, similar HERE| Purse: Coach, vintage

What's better than one fabulous bardot maxi dress? Why TWO of course!!! LOL! I blogged a cute off the shoulder dress in my last post (HERE), since most good things come in pairs it only made sense in my head to follow up with this rustic beauty. Let's talk about number two shall we?😁 Color, tassels, and frills - honestly, what is there not to LOVE?!!! I packed it with me for a weekend escape and accessorized it with from the same color family. I can't wait to rock this in the summer with a strappy pair of sandals!

Until next time,

Floral Flow

Statement necklace: Nordstrom| Dress: c/o HERE (use discount code "inmyjoi20")| Velvet booties: c/o HERE| Purse: Vintage, thrifted

Most of the country has been in a major deep freeze, but  around these parts the weather seems to alternate between fall and spring πŸ˜‰ Is it chilly where you are? My mom told me that she was looking forward to a warm-up of 10 degrees! I guess wintertime is here!
Recently I had a chance to wear this closet newbie, an  OTS dress with a fun frilly high/low hem. I paired it with black accessories, and carried along a velvet blazer for the chilly night air. I really like this dress!
Note: The material is on the thin side, almost sheer - I added a slip underneath it.
I usually think of wearing dark floral prints during chilly temperatures, but this dress would also be great for summer.
Until next time,
Xx

Bare a Little

Top: c/o HERE (size down, I'm wearing a M)| Hat: HERE| Earrings: HERE| Wood Watch: c/o HERE
Pants: Old| Shoes: Similar HERE + another option HERE| Purse: HERE

The cold shoulder frenzy rages on Babes, and I’m totally fangirling! That’s why I snagged this OTS polka dot beauty w/o hesitation from AMAZON πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’• Can you tell that is comes with invisible straps? I love that it can be worn dressy or casual, with pants, skirts, and even over dresses- PLUS it is wonderfully breathable, perfect for warm weather months. But seriously, let's face the facts, it is polka dot -which guarantees an automatic win right off the back. Classic prints always have a place in my wardrobe!
Now I’m not a major fan of dolman sleeves (even on kimonos...), but they totally work on this blouse 😎  I could also see it designed a tad differently with statement trumpet/fluted sleeve or even frilled sleeves- done dolman style. This Shein top is generously sized, I wore it tunic style this time around but next I'm going to faux tuck it next and then go for a full tuck all around...
For its grand debut out here in the jungle of Los Angeles, I paired it with an older pair of cigarette style pants (circa 2011) turned crop by rolling them up at the cuff. In this way the eye is led to my red patent leather ankle strap shoes... Red seemed to be the most sensible companion to my black and white duo- but for a tinge of the unusual I also added in my suede green bag (really another go-to piece in recent months) because it just seems to work.
Until next time,
XO

Checks & Balances

Linen blazer: Sold Out| Mustard blouse: c/o HERE| Windowpane pants: Old| Fishnet socks: Nordstrom
Sandals: Old, other options HERE & HERE| Tote: c/o HERE

Have you recently acquired a piece that you've been on a mission to find? So have I!!! I recently scored the most perfect white linen blazer, which has literally been on my "To buy" list for at least 3 years. I was overjoyed when I finally found it while away on travel.
It's not that there haven't been others (every season a batch of white blazers hits the scene)...but there was always something about them that didn't suit my fancy: price, fit, or design. Now that I think about, fit is really a big factor for me when it comes to blazers. This explains why I don't own many - nor do I care for most pantsuits.
A boxy top/jacket feels awkward (and it looks the part IMO) on my curvy frame, for me the secret to mastering it lies in a tailored look. When I scored this number at Nordstrom a few months ago, I really was in shock and disbelief! The fit was perfect AND it was on SALE (insert happy dance). Since then, I have  had the joi of discovering just how many things my newest addition goes with (see another look HERE) in my current wardrobe 😀
Today's ensemble is an example of such. I pulled out these pants from storage, added a dash of mustard and wah-la ⇒ an easy #ootd was born! I look forward to additional discoveries with this newbie πŸ˜‰
Until next time,
XO
