Think Pink

Sunnies: Old, similar HERE | Earrings: Kate Spade, sold out| Sweater: Ralph Lauren
Skirt: Sold out| Shoes: Sold out; another option HERE
Photography by A. Robinson

Today's post features another goodie from my closet, a pink sweater that I found with the price tags still intact 😲 I think I purchased it 3-4 years ago, but it could be older. It's such a classic piece - I had no doubt that it would earn its place in my wardrobe over time. I love the saturated pink hue and the indescribably soft material that it is made of. This cashmere, but not quite...
For its grand debut, I decided to take it for a spin in monochrome, pairing it with complementary shades of pink πŸ’•
The skirt and shoes are actually newer acquisitions, however unfortunately they are sold out. I look forward to styling each of these pieces again!
Until next time,
Xx

Paradise Found

Earrings: Kate Spade| Dress: c/o HERE| Purse: ZARA| Slides: TopShop, sold out

There aren't many hidden gems in downtown Los Angeles, yet I officially declare the location of today's post as one of them. I stumbled upon it a few months back while attending a sample sale hosted by Cult Gaia. From the street view, the plaza looks dull and unordinary. However after a brief descent down a flight or two of stairs, it feels like you've stepped back in time. You stand smack dab in the middle of an old factory- with a vintage car thrown in for good measure. This site was particularly fab to me because I love old buildings, and somehow it gave me the feeling that I was someplace entirely different, even far far away from the hustle & bustle that is downtown Los Angeles.
Until next time,
Xx

Premme | Styled 3 Ways

Look 1 Top: Scarf, thrifted| Suit: HERE| Blue satin shoes: HERE
Look 2 Earrings: HERE| Red blouse: Old| Suit: HERE| Red suede sandals: Jeffrey Campbell
Look 3 Earrings: ALDO| Black silk blouse: c/o HERE| Suit: HERE| Pink satin mules: HERE

Hey Babe,
I hope you enjoyed a fantastic weekend! I indulged in 'me time' to the fullest, and even managed to get in a few shots of a newbie to my wardrobe, a pale pink suit from Premme!
When I spotted this suit online earlier this month, something about it spoke to me. It said: "Purchase me!" 😁😁😁 I was a bit iffy about which size to order, you just never know how sizes will run when you try out a brand for the very first time. I went with a size "1", as I wanted a more relaxed fit - and wouldn't you know, I was right on!
This suit is very well made, the fabric is soft (trousers are unlined), and it is a delightful shade of pink. The biggest shocker: It has real pockets! Not only on the trousers but also on the pants!!! Seeing that I am a lover of pockets (especially functional ones), this feature is a win/win in my book- whoo hoo! For starters I styled it 3 ways, with the following themes in mind:
* What not to wear to the office
* Boss Babe
* Semi-formal night
Which one is your favorite? Meanwhile, I haven't quite decided...
Until next time,
Xx

The Perfect Overcoat

Hat: Borrowed from Hubby| Overcoat: c/o HERE (πŸ’₯snag YOUR FREE trial offerπŸ’₯)| Silk blouse: Ralph Lauren, another cute option HERE
Dress: Sold out| Handbag: Kate Spade, similar one HERE| Booties, old - similar option HERE
I love textural interest, this look pairs a multi-dimensional window pane print with frilly lace. My overcoat was a recent win via my weekly GB shipment. I so look forward to receiving new goodies from them each week in the mail! I added the coat to my virtual closet (another handy feature for ensuring you get exactly what you want) a few weeks back and totally forgot about it until I saw that it had shipped and was on its way to my house. When I received it I noticed that it was pretty lightweight, which meant that I could be liberal with adding layers underneath-YAY!
I started off with a silk blouse, topped that with a lace dress, then added on the overcoat. I really like this trio! I was warm (Autumn in SoCal is mild), comfortable, and stylish πŸ˜‰

Set the Tone

Monotone looks always give me warm and fuzzy feelings. I generously apply Iris Apfel’s famous words: ‘More is more’. Yes, less color is not more- MORE is MORE! 😎
I remember back during my very first year of blogging I shared an all orange/monochrome look that I had recently worn to the office. A reader commented that I had on entirely too much orange and that the look was distasteful. I took her sentiments in stride, thanking her for sharing her thoughts and then advising her that I would continue to style the look in exactly the same way for as long as I pleased…  A good chunk of time has passed by since then, I am now more conscious (than when I first started blogging) that others may not share my style affinity for monochrome color palettes. That doesn't phase me at all. Additionally, my style affinity is not limited to monochrome looks exclusively. I actually like a little bit of everything/every style genre. Rather than subscribing to a set formula whenever I get dressed, I simply wear what I like, whatever suits my mood.
My secret is out! I wear what makes me feel good!
When I learned from YOURS Clothing that I would have the opportunity to select a few items to style, including pieces from their brand new LIMITED COLLECTION, I instantly felt drawn to this pink bardot jumpsuit. The length is a perfect toss between shorts & pants, I knew that it belonged with me. Several days later I was perusing their site again, and low and behold I spotted the perfect accomplice via a matching duster. Yes it is pink on pink. Yes it is monochrome. And yes- I love how both pieces look together and I will wear them again and again for as long as I please 😍
Do share, are you a fan of monochrome palettes?!
Until next time,

Xx

Candy Stripes

Pink wool hat: HERE| Top: Old, similar HERE
Skirt: c/o HERE + save $5 off your order with code JOI5OFF

According to a recent inventory check into my wardrobe, I may or may not have enough hats to wear a different one every day for at least 4 months…πŸ˜– πŸ‘€ 😢
If you’re a hat lover/hoarder like me, you may find that you have to create opportunities to be certain that you wear each piece in your collection. For instance, I bought this pink boater last year (never fear, it’s still available for sale HERE) but instead of wearing it promptly, I ended up putting it on display in my powder room. This shade of pink closely matches the color that I painted my powder room. Time flew by and now here we are almost in May…
Recently I set about reconciling my hat inventory (including purging where necessary) and realized that I hadn't wore this beauty yet! Sure it looks pretty cute mounted in my powder room, but how much fun is that?! LOL! I had an idea to pair soft pink with red this season, without a doubt a result of my relentless Pinterest excursions.
I rummaged through my closet and re-discovered this choker tank top acquired last summer. Wouldn’t you know that both the hat and tank felt like a perfect fit for this knockout candy stripe maxi skirt?! Seriously though, when I tried it all on I felt like the wait had been well worth it!
This maxi stunner stands out in a crowd- and paired with pastel pink it hits the ball out of the park!
Please be sure to check out Fab & Frugal Women's Boutique HERE, and score $5 off with code ”JOI5OFF”.
Sierra (the owner) just added a ton of new stuff, check it out and save!

A Color Story

I find inspiration in practically every facet of my life. One day while perusing a home dΓ©cor site I came across a glorious color combination. Immediately I was taken by it, and I thought of how I might be able to play it out in real life, not in my dΓ©cor- but in my wardrobe- LOL! Yes this duo of pastel pink and rich green was love at first site! I saved it to my ‘to-do’ list on Pinterest to be executed as soon as possible.

As it just so happened, my friends over at The Perfect Pair Boutique sent me this dreamy top – serious pastel pink perfection.  I was so excited because shortly after receiving it I had the realization that the acquisition of this top meant that I was  finally going to have the opportunity to play out my color adventure in real life 😊

Since this top is over-sized, I opted to style it with a pencil skirt- as a balancing act, but I’m also considering this pair of pants to pair it with in the future. I just love it when a plan comes together! Plus, I have one less thing on my ‘to-do’ list, and we all know how checking tasks off as completed feels wonderful!

Until next time,
XO

Sweaters & Skirts Like XO

It’s that time again, I’m back with the Babes of #UnitedlyPlus and this time our style theme is Sweaters x Skirts. I really appreciate collaborating with other bloggers because it constantly encourages me to style pieces in new ways and to think outside of my style box! Please be sure to check out Sheena of I Am She Global & Sahily of Pretty In Pigment  :) Initially I had an idea in mind based on a colorful look that I recently wore to the office, but when I added a sweater to the mix- I didn’t like it like at all. Don’t get me wrong, the sweater matched, but the entire look pulled together just wasn’t “me”. Has that ever happened to you? Sometimes the way things look in my head are entirely different than how they look when all is said & done! LOL!

I previously decided that I would shop my own closet for this look- and so the search into my wardrobe unleashed. Next up came an idea to wear my latest favorite pair of sandals =) Aren’t they the cutest?! I went through hoops to get these, as the store that I initially spotted them in didn’t have my size (I shared portions of this harrowing experience on my Instagram Stories)….Any who, the hassle was so worth it, as they are as comfy as they are stylish!!! That is a WIN + WIN!!!

I knew that I had a silk skirt that was a very close match in color, so I added it to my pile of ideas. This skirt has been with me since 2004, and although it was pricey for me at the time, the investment was well worth it. Would you believe me if I told you that this skirt initially had perfect pleats? Well it did, but one bad trip to the cleaners and the pleats were gone forever. Initially I hated it, so the cleaners reimbursed me the cost of the skirt, at its original price! I decided to keep the skirt anyway, and eventually it grew on me again- thus I added it back to the rotation. Now that I really think about it, it was free, wasn’t it?!

Next up I needed to decide on which sweater to wear, I tried on a few, but this embellished beauty won out. I think I purchased it two years ago, yet I have never worn it- all tags were still intact =) I love it when that happens, it almost feels like a surprise gift to myself, LOL! Since both my sweater and shoes are stellar statement pieces, I opted for classic simplicity with my jewelry. Both my diamond stud earrings and “Journey” pendant are c/o Kevin Jewelers. I’ve mentioned before that I am working with them as a Brand Influencer, and having a ball!

Now on to the specifics: These certified  ½ carat VS2 diamond stud earrings are elegance personified, encased in 14K white gold. If I had to choose just one of the two pieces, the “Journey” pendant is my favorite. Notice how the diamonds graduate in size? Be still my heart! Both pieces are available during this month’s “Clear the Case” sale, and are a whopping 65% off!!! Head on over to your local KJ and check out the deals available online!
*This just In: Kevin Jewelers is proud to support Breast Cancer Awareness month! For the entire month of October Kevin Jewelers will donate 10% of proceeds to The Breast Cancer Fundraiser for several items, including a diamond tennis bracelet and a diamond halo pendant ;)

Until next time,
XO
