Mixing Prints: Leopard on Leopard | Take 2

As promised, I’m back in leopard print, and this time I’m taking a gamble mixing leopard prints!
(Fun filter applied)
In Monday’s post (see here) I admitted that I have not always felt comfortable wearing full on leopard print clothing. An accessory here and there, oh yes, I mean of course – but a full look, um, not so much. I never took out the time to consider why I felt that way, I suppose it’s because I thought it didn’t feel like “Me”. My feelings have changed, and boy am I glad that they have!
I won this Jungle Cat Fit and Flare Dress courtesy of an Eloquii Instagram contest, and it is simply glorious! The bodice has unique faux leather details, while the skirt is super full and generously styled with box pleats.
Being the vintage lover that I am, it seemed only right to pair it with vintage mink accents, and a retro up-do. To accomplish this look, I spiraled my hair with hot curlers, and then pinned it somewhat sporadically with dozens of bobby pins and a few jumbo ones.
My husband says he likes this dress styled best without the vintage accents.
What’s your opinion: Do you like the added personal touches of vintage fur or not so much?
Oh, and how could I forget to mention my shoes?! My broken toe is just about all healed, which means that I can now step out in fun heels again! I’m in love with this pair of kitties, not only is the style fantastic, but get this: They are comfortable too! That’s a win/win in my book =)
Thank you for stopping in today and for commenting below. Have a great day!

30PlusStyle: Tutu the Curvy Woman’s Way

The day has finally arrived when I can share with you a post that I have seriously been bubbling over about!
Warning- This just may be the most picture heavy blog post that I have ever published! LOL! ;)

As announced last month, I have partnered with five gorgeous plus size bloggers for a 30+ Style Collaboration: PepperNefferth, Georgette, Jeniese, and Delilah.

For the second part of our style series, we bring you:
#30PlusStyle Tutu the Curvy Woman’s Way

This month we are showcasing how to design a look around a tutu/tulle skirt. Being the lover of vintage that I am, I incorporated elements that are authentic to my personal style.

Wearing a tulle skirt/tutu is ultra fun and feminine, and there are endless possibilities when it comes to styling it!

Check out how all of the #30PlusStyle beauties styled their tutus:

Winter White: Ruffles & Checked Slim Trouser

Hey there! I hope this post finds you all doing well. I'm doing well, enjoying the warm up we are currently in. It's been a tad nippy for the past couple of weeks, like last week when I wore this outfit. I say nippy, because much of the country has been in a deep freeze and I can hardly call 50 degrees cold in comparison, although it feels frigid to my thinned out blood. The bitter cold of Michigan almost seems like something I once dreamed about, rather than experienced 30+ years of my life.

Today's look features a winter white ensemble, and grid checked slim trousers.
The sun had almost gone down, and that produced a pretty cool/filter-like effect.

We stopped at an abandoned construction site, and I had to stand exactly in one spot so that the sun would hit me at the right angle, and to avoid (somewhat) blurred photos.
As you can see, I'm in quite a predicament- LOL!
I brought along one of my favorite vintage coats for the cool air that would come once the sun dropped.
I scored this red wool number (without the buttons), mink collar in tact, for....get ready....$0.25!!!!! Yes, a quarter, USD! One of the local thrift shops in Michigan does a 4/$1.00 special on Sundays. I imagine this made the list because it didn't have buttons. Well, I had another vintage jacket at home that had these gorgeous buttons. I liked the buttons more than the actual jacket, so I clipped them off, and sewed them onto this coat.
The joy of thrifting is limitless ;)

Date Night: My 14th Wedding Anniversary

My husband and I celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary last week. Although I knew we were getting away for a few days, I didn't know where. He told me what the temps would be like so I'd know how to pack. I had a lovely lace dress that I hadn't worn yet, so I decided that this would be the perfect opportunity for it to make its grand debut.
Of course, cooler temperatures provided the perfect excuse to pull out vintage fur as well =)

This hat used to have netting on it, but sadly it only lasted a short while. It was in very delicate condition when I purchased it, and then I tore it. I might look into having it replaced.
For jewelry I opted on chandelier styled rhinestone earrings and a faux pearl bracelet.
I love the style of this dress, because it can be dressed up or down. Versatility is the name of my game!
An added bonus: It has pockets ;)
I had such a good time that I didn't think to take any photos until the end of the night.
Oh, I also debuted a new Spanx all over tube style slip. I think I may have gotten it too large in size, because it did not provide the type of control that I was hoping for-LOL!

Mink hat & stole: Vintage, thrifted (purchased separately). Hat also worn here.

Stepping out in Vintage Mink & Tartan

While much of the country is in a deep freeze, mild temperatures are still in full effect here in Southern California. Since I'm originally from the Midwest (Detroit), I have a love for warm weather pieces. However, it seems I don't get as much wear out of them now. Whenever temps dip low enough, I happily pull out pieces from my winter stash.

There's something about vintage mink that makes me feel glamorous. I decided to dress it down with a wool tartan blazer and NYDJs. Although I don't like cold temperatures, I do enjoy the clothing that it calls for!
