Shades of Melon

Scarf: Vintage, thrifted
Earrings: Same brand, similar option HERE
Dress: c/o HERE + see other options HERE, HERE, and HERE
Bag: Old, similar HERE & HERE

There's something to be said about showing up in color. It is bold, captivating, and oftentimes saturated. I have never been more proud to be a Black, African-American woman than now. And, I've always been proud.😜
A movement has struck the country, which in turn spilled over into most of the world to end hundreds of years of systemic racism, police brutality & murder, along with overall racial injustice towards people with black or brown skin.
Where do you stand on this issue? The time for change is now.
Until next time,
Xx

How to Wear White After Labor Day

dress: c/o HERE & HERE| purse: HERE| shoes: Jessica Simpson, similar HERE
photography by LETA
The best way to wear white after Labor Day? JUST DO IT! 😉 Seriously, there isn't much to it! Over the years I've shared looks here on the blog styled with white time and time again, after Labor Day. If you live in a mild climate, it can be easier to pull off because summer really never ends. If you live in a place where you get full exposure to all four seasons, say for example Michigan (where I am from), after summer think white denim jeans, denim skirts, knit dresses, scarves, and even boots (I love this pair of booties HERE). Long gone are the days where you have to relegate specific colors for wear during specified times of the year to be considered fashionably correct. You don't need permission to wear white after Labor Day, or instructions🙌 Experiment to see what you like, what exemplifies your sense of style, and most importantly: HAVE FUN WITH IT!!!

Still SUMMER

sunnies: sold out| top: old| pants: HERE| straw bag: another option HERE| shoes: old
Photography by A. Robinson

News bulletin: It is still S U M M E R!!! While shopping over the weekend, I could not believe what I saw in almost every store... Fall clothing on display! I get it, advance planning is everything for marketing. However, can we fully enjoy the glory that is summer?! I LOVE SUMMER! Heatwave and all!  I intend to inhale every minute until the final drop.  Fortunately for me, I live in a mild climate.😊

Today's look features fall-like colors in lightweight separates that are totally ideal for summer. Take for instance these palazzo pants:  Wonderfully airy and comfortable.  I spotted them in-store while we were in Costa Rica. I tried them on but ended up not purchasing them there because the price was actually higher than they were here in the US. I purchased them online once we arrived back in the States. Interestingly, the brand lists the color as red. From my view, they are clearly orange!  I paired them with a mustard colored blouse, and bright brocade slides for a day in the city.
Over to you, are you soaking up the very last bit of summer?!
Until next time Babes,

Straight Flush

Earrings: TJMAXX| Top: ZARA| Skirt: HERE| Purse: ZARA

If there's one thing that I never tire of, it's a full on monochrome look😌 What else can I say, I like it when good things come together! This look features two items purchased at ZARA. I snagged one from last year's Summer Sale (for $9.99) and another is now on sale at this year's Summer Sale ($25.99). Can you guess which is which? ZARA has two sales a year, I try not to miss either one of them. There are so many fantastic deals to be had, and the prices continue to drop week after week until everything has been sold. I guess you know where to find me this evening...LOL!
Until next time Babes,

The Gingham Game

Hat: HERE| Dress: HERE| Rattan clutch: Vintage, thrifted| Gold boots: Old

My ❤ for gingham print hasn't subsided. I've had gingham in practically every size - small, medium, and now supersize 😁 Needless to say, my favorite feature about this dress is: the print...
What's your favorite print to wear?
Currently on my wishlist are gingham prints in red (preferably in a fabulously frilly off the shoulder top), pink (perhaps a coordinating top and full midi skirt), and yellow (hmmm, the possibilities are endless).
The gingham game is in full effect, my goal is to master it 😉
Until next time Babes,

Denim for Days

Sunnies: HERE| OTS chambray top: c/o HERE (runs large)| Tencel maxi skirt: c/o HERE
Pom embellished straw bag: Marshalls, cute options HEREHERE HERE| Metallic pink sandals: TopShop

The month of April has literally flown right on by - I cannot believe that we are just one day shy of entering into May 2018! Chapter 4, AKA April was one choked with highs and lows. Nonetheless, I feel quite resilient and optimistic about the months ahead! I try remember whenever I am going through a blue leg of the journey: No storm lasts forever; Every storm has an ending 😉
Since I've been in a blue/blah mood, it's totally fitting that I should turn to denim for comfort right?! LOL! Seriously, you just cannot go wrong with denim. This off the shoulder top is actually a thinner variation of denim, often referred to as chambray and the material of the skirt is called tencel. I like that both pieces are not as dense as regular denim, therefore making them ideal for spring and summer weather. Babes denim skirts are making a comeback - and I am HERE for it!
Until next time,

Embroider Me

Hat: HERE| Earrings: c/o HERE| Off the shoulder top: c/o HERE| Chambray top: c/o HERE
Embroidered jeans: c/o HERE| Pink sandals: Similar HERE| Straw bag: c/o HERE

I have been hankering for a pair of embroidered denim jeans all summer long, ooops, actually probably since around the start of Spring😊 I even pinned a few tutorials to my Pinterest DIY board on how to make my own embroidered jeans, but then I got stumped in finding an applique as long as what I had in mind...SIGH.
Fortunately for me, my friends at Yours Clothing sent me a purrfect pair with matching chambray shirt all the way from across the pond ❤
These jeans made me feel so cute and girly. I like that they are a step away from my typical pick of skinny jeans- they are true boyfriend cut with a super relaxed fit. I paired them with an OTS pale pink top as the weather was mild, but it was nice to have the added layer of the chambray shirt for the night air.  As each day passes, it is becoming more and more evident that Fall is on the way 💕
Until next time Dolls,

Melon Sorbet

Sunnies: Old| Earrings: Genie Mack, Etsy| Dress: c/o HERE| Belt: Old| Straw bag: Thrifted| Pom sandals: Zara, from last summer

It’s FRINALLY FRI-YAY Babes- WE MADE IT!!! WHOO HOO! At the end of each week I always feel like a celebratory notion of some sort is in order 💥 This week is no different, in fact I have started the official countdown to my next vacation although it is 30+ days out...😁
About this dress: It is simply perfect for color blocking! The top and skirt are made of contrasting colors, from first glance it looks like a shirt and a skirt. Because I am a color lover, I added another to the duo by way of a red belt. I love this color trio together + it provided the perfect opportunity to pull out one of my favorite pair of statement earrings & my 'party on' pom sandals 😍
This dress was slightly bigger than I anticipated, I improvised by tying knots at my shoulders and one more for fun at the hem. Normally knotted hems are used for maxi length skirts, I decided to try it on a midi length, and what do you know- I liked it! The whole look was a great go for a hot summer evening, with dinner and drinks.
Have a great weekend Loves!
Xx

Spring Fling

Dress (14p): HERE| Wood Watch: c/o HERE| Pom sandals: Sold out, but check HERE| Straw bag: Thrifted & DIY trim

Loves I have a confession to make: There’s a new color in my life and I can’t get enough of it.
I’m not sure what you might call it, you see it’s not quite red  but then it’s not a true orange hue either. In my head, it is the perfect color in between fiery red and Sunkist orange. I think I’ll call it Fire Orange👌
It is bold, it is fiery, it is fearless.
To feed my habit in true shopaholic form, I’ve scooped up a number of items already this spring in this fiery hue. Shall we call the dress in today’s style story, “Exhibit A”? Stay tuned for "Exhibit B"...
The style of this feminine frock is choked with things to love: dotted swiss, ruffles, and tiers. Thus far I’ve only styled it with my ‘loads of fun’ pom sandals (another option HERE), but I have a few others ideas in mind for future escapades...
What I really appreciate about today’s look is that it is a wonderful combination of style + comfort!
My wicker bag includes coordinating orange-ish fringe tassels, which resulted from a 10 minute DIY session. I opted to staple the strip of tassels on versus gluing it (like a tutorial I saw on Pinterest) because I wanted the style to be temporary. A second  DIY session is in the works to use poms instead 💕
Until next time Loves,
Xx
