Burgundy, Plum or Wine?

Can you believe it is Monday, September 30th?! 2013 is flying by. Tomorrow marks the 1st day of October and I stand in disbelief. Finally temps are trending toward Fall! I should clarify: fall-like temperature in Southern Cali means anything under 80 degrees Fahrenheit...or at least since we've been out here. It's funny, previously I would have considered that warm weather, but now I happily pull out my boots. When in Rome, do as the Romans...
Let's get to it; here's what I wore to work:
Please excuse the wrinkles in my shirt, I was sitting for a bit and didn't think to take a couple of shots first thing. Lesson learned.
I love this vintage clutch! It is pretty baby blue color & texture, with intricate hand beading.
Scroll down for a close-up.

Lady in Red: Vintage from Head to Toe

I really like wearing hats. Random opening statement right? But I really do! Did you know that I have enough hats that I could wear a different hat everyday for more than 30 days?! Too bad I can't wear hats to the office. I thought California is supposed to be more free, and liberal. For now, I sport my hats after work and on the weekends. One day tho...I will wear hats to work ;)

Here we are at the end of the work week, and the first week of Fall. I decided to pull out my wool hats; this is the second one that I have posted this week from my vintage collection. For your viewing pleasure, I brushed the feathers on this hat in one direction; they looked so nice and shiny.
Too bad the wind had other ideas o_O

I'm looking forward to the weekend. Who's happy to pull out more fall gear? What do you have planned? Carpe diem!

Guess what day it is? It's HUMP Day!

I love that commercial, it captures the essence of the celebration of the day that is smack, dab, in the middle of the week: Wednesday! What's the big deal about Wednesday? Well, in American culture, it provides a gentle, yet powerful reminder that the glorious weekend is only TWO days away! LOL!

Any who, I digress. On to today's post. So one thing that nobody told me about blogging: it is WORK! I thought it would be easy to squeeze it into my already full life schedule. I was, how can I put it candidly, DELUSIONAL. For example: Can you imagine how many pictures are taken for one semi-successful looking blog post? Unimaginable. Out of all of the photos taken for today's post, here are the ones that made the cut:

My husband is of the belief that natural shots/photos look best. Well, today's post certainly meets that criteria.
It's Wednesday folks!

Vince Camuto - Friend in my Head

I cannot believe it is Monday already! Why does it seem like the weekends go by too fast? Probably because they do... We spent the weekend with friends; the highlight was smacking cards on the table (as hard as possible)in a game by the name of Bid Whist. How was your weekend?

Today's post:
I have yet to see an article of clothing by Vince that I dislike. This midi-length tube skirt called me in the store, by name. I decided to pair it with a blue & white stripe peplum top this go round, and blue wash platforms.
Excuse me while the wind blows hair in my face...

All White After Labor Day, With Michael Kors

Michael Kors jeans of course!

Typically, I am most comfortable and confident in Not Your Daughter’s Jeans (NYDJs). However, every now and then, I seek comfort elsewhere, and today I found it with Michael Kors. I guess these would be considered straight leg, and they have a bit of a low rise. The color is more of an off white/cream.
Side note: I was feeling some kinda way while taking these pictures! I started not to post them because I know I can do better. But guess what, nothing's perfect, including me. Enjoy the weekend my friends!

Two Pleats in a Row

'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' - that's my motto. Two pleated dresses, two days in a row. Now what is odd, as you'll learn about me: I'm wearing black. I rarely wear black, let alone all black. Perhaps my big hair clouded my judgement (no pun intended).
Anywho, here I am, in rare form: dressed in black.

Earrings: Thrifted
Necklace: TJMaxx
Bracelet: Ross
Peplum Top: Loehmanns
Dress: Thrifted
Stilettos: Nine West
Handbag: Brahmin
These shoes are a fav of mine. Although they are super pointy, the width is wide enough across the front brim that they are comfy. I'd love to have a few pairs, in cobalt blue, yellow, and fuschia. Fun, fun, and more fun.
Well, the countdown continues to Friday! Whoo hoo!

Hump Day: Vintage Teal Pleats

Happy Hump Day Everyone! It feels like this week has dragged on and on (although it's been busy), I am so ready for Friday! Why? Because I'm looking forward to getting with friends and having some fun;Work has been work, and I am looking forward to a couple days off!

When I saw this dress, there was no question in my mind that I was going to purchase it! I love purchases like that- BTW.The color, pleats, and cut were made for me! I wear it all year round, as there are bascially 2 seasons here. This time I put a 'Fall' spin on it, by play of colors. One day I'll show you how I add sleeves to this fit :)

Are you looking forward to the weekend? What are your plans?

What I Wore - Casual Chevron Maxi on a Friday

I am so happy that Friday has arrived, I almost cannot put it into words! After returning from vacation, why did I think work would be a breeze this week? I was wrong. Monday-Friday has truly been a blur of meetings, phone calls, and more meetings....This weekend I plan to stay low-key, and get in some R&R.

I usually shy away from maxi dresses, because I am short and I feel that they can be uncomplimentary. Am I alone in feeling this way? Well, when I spotted this baby at the thrift store, so crisp and clean, I couldn't leave it behind. Who can say no to chevron?
Bonus: This entire outfit was less than $40.00!
What I Wore:
Fedora: Nordstrom
Earrings: Jessica Simpson
Dress: Liz Claiborne, thrifted
Bangles: Sterling Silver
Clutch: Vintage, thrifted
Jellies: Unisa, thrifted

Snapshot of Detroit - Part 3: Sunday Best

Part 3 wraps up my series, "Snapshot of Detroit". I took these shots on a Sunday afternoon, in the inner city. I remember when this area had thriving businesses. Now looking at it, you might think that this is a city outside of the US. It isn't.
This is #DetroitUSA.

What I Wore: Tulle Skirt to a White Party

We attended a White Party while visiting Detroit last weekend. There has been at least one 'white' themed event each year for the past few years. Last year I wore white jeans and a crochet top, the year before that, a white shirt dress, and so on. Typical off the rack wear. When I received an invite this go round, I immediately had an image in my mind of what I wanted to wear. I wanted to be, in a word: unique. This go round the attire was specified as dressy; slightly different than events in years past. I love an excuse to dress up, so I set about looking for a retailer that sold a nice full tulle skirt. That proved to be like looking for a needle in a haystack. So, I opted for a well recommended vendor, and had the skirt custom made.
Jewelry: Nordstrom
Top: TJMaxx
Skirt: Custom made
Shoes: Kenneth Cole
Clutch: Vintage, thrifted

This was a really fun outfit to wear! We made a long night of it, and while downtown after the White Party, many folks offered their congratulations as they thought we just got married - LOL! As the night went on, I wondered if anyone would gift us with a wedding present =)
I didn't care for the way these pictures turned out, as it was an overcast evening. I added a basic filter which didn't really help...but oh well, it is what it is!
