Today's post is about being inspired by a style/look that you see and then recreating that look in a manner that is authentic to you, as an individual. Often times we are inspired by a particular look, and then we decide to recreate that look in a manner that is consistent with our personal style.
Here's an example:
A few weeks ago I posted this look, and WOW, what a buzz it created! Des over at FancyDime recreated the look, and I just love how she did it!! Notice that our outfits are not identical, but both carry the element of mixing stripes. Authentically, Des paired her skirt with a top that boasted solid sleeves and studded accents. She pulled the studded accents out further using her accessories and shoes.
Being a lover of differing style genres, I have fallen prey to the obsession that is: Pinterest! Whenever I have a few minutes to spare, you'll find me there, pinning inspiration to my heart's content =)
Over to you, where do you find style inspiration? Have you recreated looks that spoke to you? If so, please share!

I am so blessed to see another day. Thank you God. I have lots in my closet that I do not wear because I'm no longer out in the workforce, so my blogger pals are my inspiration these days. Yes.. you Ladies inspire me.
ReplyDeleteYou speak the truth Neti: Each day is indeed a blessing, in one way or another. I am striving to appreciate that fact more and more! One of the main things that I relish in about being back in corporate is: Dressing! I love to dress up! I find inspiration in other bloggers, the mass that is social media, and sometimes even in the workplace. I hope you are having a wonderful day :)
DeleteShe did a great job and both of you look beautiful! Love it!

DeleteThank you for sharing with us your stylish fashion. I fell in love with your outfit and tried my best to recreate it with my own style. You look fab! Do you live in LA?
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Des (fancydime)
You're welcome! I find that sharing my style has benefited me personally, and I hope to continue to evolve as I discover more ways to portray the authentic me :) I live in LA, although I am in denial about that fact. I still claim my hometown, Detroit. LA is, shall we say...different...I am still adjusting and learning the culture.
DeleteShe did a great job in recreating your look! I've recreated looks of celebrities. But I do take a lot of inspiration from people I see on pinterest and online, so many amazing and stylish people. Oh I wanted to congratulate you in winning the fffaceoff, you had amazing looks!
