I'm head over heels for classic ball gown skirts and some of their trendier counterparts. As evidenced by my preference to wear tulle skirts whenever possible (see here, here, and here), the ball gown skirt's femininity takes me by storm.
Am I the only one who longs for time eras when it was perfectly normal to dress up on every occasion?

Curls Gone Wild |
It's ironic, although I was not a fan of maxi skirts, in the last two years several have made their way inside my style loving heart. See examples here and here. My style is an evolution, I'm so curious to see what additions 2015 will bring ;) Have you set new style goals for 2015?
Sunnies: Betsey Johnson
Silk blouse: Ralph Lauren (also worn here)
Ball Gown Skirt: Thrifted
Clutch: Vintage (worn here)
That skirt is AMAZING! I can't believe you found it at a thrift store.
ReplyDeleteI long for the eras when it was normal to dress up on every occasion too!
Thanks Laura! Some of my best pieces are thrifted; Quality, one of a kind pieces! They say history repeats itself, let's hope those style eras will too ;)
DeleteI Love it all.. .the skirt, top, sunnies and curls gone wild!!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Thanks Neti!
DeleteOh wow!! I am breathless. You totally rock that ballgown skirt!
ReplyDeleteExcuse me.. I need to make a run to the thrift store now.. haha
Thank you Valerie! I already have another idea in mind for the next time that I wear it, and it won't be monochrome ;)
DeleteLOL! I need to make a run too, it's been too long!
I am head over heels in love with your whole entire outfit! The color, the testures, the skirt- fabulous!

Thank you Busola!!! This shade of purple is so deep and luxe, it makes me think of royalty :)
DeleteJoi, you look absolutely stunning. The great thing about this look is that you're wearing it and it isn't wearing you. Beautiful fabrication, color, structure...an amazing find.
ReplyDeleteThanks Glenda!! I was with a friend when I bought the skirt, I could see the expression on her face was like 'What in the world are you going to do with that?'-LOL!!
DeleteSimply lovely--can't believe that skirt is thrifted. Skirts are hot right now. I've seen skirts like that selling for $200 or more. Go Queen!
ReplyDeleteHey Robin! Thank you!! I've seen some of those prices, $$$ = insanity IMO! I could have one made for cheaper! This one has a tulle petticoat underneath, which adds to the fullness and dramatic flair :)
DeleteOmg!! Joi, you totally nailed this look. Fabulous color with an elegant and romantic vibe!! Yes, yes and yaaassss!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kishina!!! Purple is not my favorite color, but this shade of purple has depth and richness, just tantalizing!
DeleteSo lovely, how do you get thrifted clothes that fit you so well. Do you get them tailored? I can never find clothes that fit that well on me. Love the color!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! My waist size allows for me to wear a variety of sizes (from 8-16) and silhouettes, especially a-line cuts. This skirt is actually too large for me, but the volume of the skirt diverts attention. I only have 2 vintage/thrifted pieces to date that I've actually had altered ;)
DeleteYou look lovely Joi ! I really have not set any goals for next year.
ReplyDeleteThanks Assa! I haven't set any style goals for next year either, I'm content with my current pace ;)
DeleteBeautiful, I love it!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
DeleteStunning!!! I was so sure that skirt was custom made for you!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Deena!!! It's a thrift shoppe goody, and I was more than happy to scoop it up ;)
