Bidding Adieu to Summer in Not Your Daughter's Jeans

Can you believe it?! We have arrived at the end of August, which annually reminds us that the blissfulness that is Summer, is fast fleeting. Fortunately, denim transcends every season.  As a matter of fact, jeans have been a style essential for women everywhere for decades. Just about every woman would agree: Obtaining the best fit possible for your body is crucial! In my opinion, Not Your Daughter’s Jeans holds a secret, yes, even for those of us with generous curves! Join me as I share my #NYDJStyle *!
White denim is hands down my all-time favorite! It’s fantastic for Summer, and in mild climates you can totally enjoy it all year round. I throw caution to the wind, and wear my white jeans well on past Labor Day (stay tuned to the blog for white denim style during Fall and beyond)!

Perhaps you’re apprehensive about wearing an all white jean? This pair of Aurora Super Skinnies in “Moonstone Beach” were made for you. Two-toned denim is completely on trend right now; In effect, you get the best of both worlds in a nutshell!

Despite my best efforts, some simply may not be sold on white denim.

No worries, I have the answer for you! Try a perfect medium:
The Alina Legging in Aspen, they are a superb alternative.

Aspen is a light colored denim, and it provides the benefit of an almost white shade, and yet an almost blue shade at the same time!

Switching gears: It can be easy to stick with the same style of blue jeans year after year. Do you find it difficult to branch out and experiment with various cuts, take for example, ‘skinny’ versus ‘boyfriend’? Why not try a fresh approach on wearing classic colored denim?!

The LeAnn Skinny Boyfriend Mini Stripe and the Kerry Legging are certainly not your average pairs of blue jeans. I’m wearing the LeAnn Skinny Boyfriend Mini Stripe in “Old West”, and find that they can easily be paired with a blazer, perfect for a casual day at the office.

Alas, I may have saved the best for last! Perhaps you lean towards a more classic colored jean? The Kerry Legging in Palos Verdes is calling your name and they are perfect for Fall! They fit like a dream, and I gushed over the accents over the knees and ankle zipper detail.

As a curvy plus-size woman, I avoided jeans altogether for over ten years. That was until I stumbled across a pair of Not Your Daughter’s Jeans in Nordstrom’s. My love of jeans was instantly restored because of the ah-mazing fit. Now, I keenly anticipate every new pair!

If you’d like to find the best fitting jeans for your curves: Try Not Your Daughter’s Jeans!

I whole-heartedly thank An Image is Forever for the wonderful job done on photography for this shoot!

Thrift Store Score: Vintage Diagonal Color Block Dress

Happy Sunday Style Lovers!

Today's post features a #thriftstorescore , a vintage color block dress with a twist! The quality and durability of vintage pieces never cease to amaze me. This is one of the main reasons I'm always on the hunt for a #thriftstorescore (see more here) !

I would say that this dress looks to be late 70s/early 80s ,yet every detail remains fantastically intact. I particularly like that the color blocking design is done on a diagonal, with a slant.

The ruching on the shoulders adds such femininity to the dress as a whole.
Now this was made before the time of faux-wrap designs, so guess what? When the wind blows, you are exposed- LOL! To combat embarrassment I wear a nude colored slip underneath :)

I paired it with gold because I had a hankering to carry my vintage gold handbag, scored during a recent trip to Vegas.

Am I the only one who has hankerings to wear and or carry certain things even when there are more suitable options available?! I have rose gold colored accessories which would have been a perfect match, but I simply didn't want to wear them...

I'd love to hear your thoughts and comments below!
Have a great day, and 'Until next time'!

30PlusStyle: Trending, Dresses Over Pants

#30PlusStyle (www.facebook.com/30plusstyle) returns today and we’re having a ball rocking dresses over pants (-->previous #30PlusStyle posts)!!!
This concept isn’t new, yet it seems to be surging full speed ahead as we enter Fall 2014. I bubbled over with excitement at the thought of trying it out. Sometimes women are apprehensive about trying styles that may “make them look bigger”. I made the choice not to surrender to that fear. May I say: I have no regrets! =)

Check out all the #30PlusStyle Beauties and our special Guest Blogger today to see how they layered dresses over pants:

Graphically Joi

Hey there Style Lovers! How are you? I'm doing ok, or shall I say: 'hanging in there'.
Today I’m sharing a fab straight-cut, graphic print dress with you.

I tend not to gravitate to straight-cut dresses because oftentimes it can be challenging for me to find a fit that I am personally comfortable with.

A common problem
The top portion is overwhelmingly too big, while the bottom portion cuts off my circulation in the hip/thigh area.
Suggested solution:
I purchased this dress in a larger size, and found myself surprisingly quite satisfied with the fit! It could be taken in a bit in a spot or two, but I simply decided not to bother with it.
I’ve styled it in numerous ways, for this go round I kept it very simple.

When I wear navy & white it’s so hard for me to resist wearing a red lip! Do you feel the same way?
Well, with a red lip, one must carry a red handbag- right?! LOL! I thought so, after all, I like to follow all the 'rules' =)

This look is very practical and easily transitions from business to pleasure =)
Now in my opinion, my natural colored leather peep-toe booties go with everything. I look forward to any excuse to take them out on the town. Imagine this: They’re comfortable, I can walk for several hours in them with no issues = winning!

Have a great day Beauties, I appreciate you for stopping by and commenting below ;)

21 JumpStreet

Is it Monday again?! Why are the days of this month going by so fast? As I was preparing to type up this post I was completely astonished that in less than 2 weeks August 2014 will be said and done! I love having a full and busy life, but my goodness, time is moving faster than I am! Nonetheless, on to today’s post =)
I titled this post "21 JumpStreet" after an American television show that was on in the late 80s/early 90s. Holly Robinson-Peete (an actresses) had big hair, and wearing my hair like this totally reminded me of the show and her-LOL!
I looked up images online, and wouldn’t you know it, I actually spotted her in jacket that is similar to the top that I am wearing.
Now this midi skirt has been a favorite of mine for a number of years. Not only is the bright floral print in sync with me, but the practical linen material and attached cotton slip are winners for the summer heat.
Over time the waist seems to have stretched out a bit, and because of that, I notice that I don’t wear it nearly as often as I used to. However, that’s an easy fix, and because it’s in great shape otherwise, it shall continue on with my collective for years to come =)
Usually I pair it with white, orange, or yellow, but I wanted to try something different this time around. I searched through my collective, and decided to go with a touch of trendy by adding this acid wash chambray shirt.
Instead of a statement necklace, I opted for statement earrings.
A small handbag (leaving my bigger tote in the car) and matching acid wash platforms (worn here) finished off the look.
Please share below: Do you rock the acid wash trend, or do you prefer classic mainstream pieces?
Thanks for commenting, have a wonderful day Beauties!

Stripes to the Maxi

Today’s look was totally driven by the desire to stay cool and comfortable.
I paired a classic cotton stripe top with a wonderfully cool and bright colored maxi skirt (also worn here).

I recently picked up this delight of a necklace, and I thought what better opportunity than this one to break it into rotation.
To further pull out it's gold accent, I added a thin, gold-tone rope belt alongside sandals with the most adorable metal gold bows (also worn here).

I truly didn’t realize initially that my Beau Tote would go so wonderfully with this ensemble! Once the thought occurred to me, I was sold, and the colors are simply delicious! In the end my mission was accomplished: I felt cool and comfortable =)

What’s your formula for staying cool and comfortable on a hot Summer’s day?
Thank you for stopping by, have a wonderful day!
